Y-Justice is a YMCA initiative that supports young people at risk of or in conflict with the law, guiding them toward positive life choices through civic education, empowerment, and advocacy.
Grounded in the Subject to Citizen philosophy, Y-Justice helps youth find their voice and take an active role in their communities.
This programme provides life skills, transformative masculinity, substance abuse prevention, and advocacy sessions to equip young people, both in and out of school, with critical thinking skills to make informed decisions.
Transformative Masculinity is a key component, encouraging men and boys to actively contribute to gender justice by redefining masculinity in a positive and supportive way.
Through personal development plans, participants identify areas for growth, build self-confidence, and develop a sense of responsibility for their communities. By focusing on individual strengths and opportunities, Y-Justice empowers young people to become agents of change. Advocacy efforts ensure that they understand their rights and actively participate in shaping safer schools and communities.
