The YMCA’s Y-Care program, launched with funding from the Y-Stay initiative’s accommodation services, has invested R170,000 to provide meals to 120 people weekly, currently served twice a week, combating hunger in communities grappling with poverty, where survival struggles contribute to rising gangsterism and crime. The YMCA also supports youth with skills training, career counselling, and emotional support to foster independence. The School Shoe Campaign has raised R230,000 through local and international support, partnering with other YMCAs and organizations to provide essential footwear to schoolchildren, ensuring access to education.
